Attention Marvel fans! Superhero fans! Fans of female superheroes! The trailer for Marvel’s Captain Marvel is now out. The trailer shows us that the movie will be taking place in the 90s; cue the nostalgia! It will feature Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Nick Fury (with both eyes!). The plotline focuses on Danvers role in a war between the Kree and the Skrulls. Prior to the release of the trailer, there were theories floating on the internet that a member of the Avengers is not like the others. It is theorized that one of the members is actually a Skrull, shapeshifting aliens that can turn into any person. While this isn’t exactly confirmation of that theory, it does align with it perfectly.
As a female, lover of mainstream superheroes, I am so excited for this movie. I’ve been a fan of Brie Larson’s since her debut role of Natasha/Envy in Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World and can’t wait to see her take on this role. I hope they address how Nick Fury lost his eye. It was in Captain America: Winter Soldier where Fury mentioned: “Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye.” Could it be at the hands of Captain Marvel or the hands of someone he thought he trusted disguised as a Skrull?
