Stop Dreading Detangling with these Tips

D E T A N G L I N G is one of the most important steps when trying to succeed on a hair growth journey and the tools used is just as important.

Try using one or more of the following detangling tools to help make your next session more smooth.

- Denman Brush, Paddle Brush, Palm Brush

Wide Tooth Comb

- Tangle Teezer

- Fingers

The tools listed above should help you execute the following techniques and get the most out of your detangling sessions.

  1. Detangle hair when damp or wet and for added slip use a creamy deep conditioner, it is easier to manipulate and prevents breakage.

  2. Detangle your hair from the ends up to your roots. Make sure to massage in product at the ends, since those are the most delicate and work up the hair strands.

  3. The best part about finger detangling is that you aren’t ripping through and breaking your hair strands. Just make sure you are being gentle with any knots.

  4. Keep all detangling tools clean of old hair and sanitize every 4 to 6 weeks (depending on how often you use them).  Gently clean any tools after every use, at the very least always remove the hair.

  5. Section the hair! With 4 to 6 plaits there will be an easier and more effective detangling session.  It may take a few more minutes but it’s worth it.

  6. Detangle in the mirror with a towel around your neck to catch dripping product.  If detangling in the shower to avoid making your bathroom floor a mess, try turning the water off and taking your time with each section.

Happy Detangling! Hopefully these tips help your next detangling day.
