In the UK, Charter Academy has told parents that anyone wearing a hairstyle known as the “Meet Me at McDonald’s” will be kicked out of school or punished. The Sun describes the hairstyle as a “tousled, permed mop, short sides and a floppy fringe.” The school has also banned high tops and any other hairstyles they deem unprofessional. This story has been shared numerous times on social media because nobody can say why the hairstyle is called “Meet Me at McDonalds.”
The hairstyle is basically short on the sides, with curly hair on top and combed forward.
What do you think? Should students be disciplined over their hairstyles? Would you sport the “Meet Me at McDonald’s?”
Creative hairstyles are a way for people to express themselves, and to me, as long as it isn’t a distraction, should be left to the parents to regulate. After a little digging, I found out that you can search #curlymohawk or #meetmeatmcdonalds on Instagram for some hairstyle inspiration.
